High
School and University groups have the ultimate opportunity
to undertake international excursions and expeditions
in indigenous Fijian communities.
Our
tailor-made itineraries are built upon key objectives
and outcomes, as formulated with the group. These
include:
- Creation
of sister school relationships
- Experiential
learning opportunities
- Practical
educational projects
- Provisions
of educational resources to developing schools
- Celebration
of diversity
- Immersion
in a foreign culture
- Personal
growth and relationship enhancement.
Fiji
Dreaming acts as a cultural broker for universities
undertaking research projects. We can tailor itineraries
to the research or experiential learning objectives
of your group, providing opportunities such as:
- Teaching
in a highland primary school for education students;
- Implementing
sustainable agriculture practices for science
students;
- Delivering
sustainable first aid/health programs for health/medical
students;
- Research
opportunities in all fields.
'Thank
you both very much for firstly planning and organising
an extraordinary trip that was very much tailored
to suit our needs as a first time experience, you
were excellent leaders for our small group of uni
students. The trip was very well coordinated, and
appeared absolutely seamless every day - this is a
strong testament to your abilities as cultural brokers...your
patience, understanding, and well founded relationship
with the people was an obvious contributor to the
success. Additionally, you know how to help the students
have fun, lift their spirits and especially facilitate
the group with a level of ease, professionalism and
expertise...I learned much from watching you both
lead and interact with the students and especially
negotiate with the Fijians on all levels...This has
been a very special expedition indeed, and it is totally
as a result of your strong business ethics, practices
in sustainable travel, your knowledge of the area,
but most importantly, the very special relationships
you have developed with the [Fijian people].'

The
Fiji Dreaming school trip really broadened my daughter's
outlook on life. Living in a Fijian village was one
of the highlights of the trip, eating native foods
and experiencing the day to day way of their lives
was not lost on her. She speaks about it often and
still reminisces fondly about it. I would recommend
this experience to any parent for their child; it
gives them valuable life experiences of other cultures
and opens their eyes to the world outside Australia.’

Fiji
Dreaming provides continual support to the
expedition group prior and post departure, to increase
cultural awareness within the school/university
and promote fundraising events for sister schools
in Fiji.
Briefings
and orientations are key to the group's preparation,
to ensure students are ready for a life-changing adventure.
'As
the Departmental employee who attended this trip I
would like to express the success and excitement myself
and the students feel about the amazing experience
we shared. Students were both mentally and physically
challenged and gained a multitude of lifelong learning
experiences. The tour guide delivered an extremely
organised and unforgettable experience. He displayed
the utmost professionalism, role modelling the importance
of respecting others and their way of life and tradtiions,
briefing and debriefing students prior to arrival
and on departure as well as providing us with an experience
of a lifetime.' T.Streek, Teacher, CSHS Adventure,

‘…thankyou
so much for giving our daughter the chance of a lifetime…A
very important message came back with all of the kids and
that was the more you have in life the more you will want
and not NEED. Looking back over the past 6 months since she
was away, I can honestly say this trip has made a huge difference
to the way she looks at life and friendships and the excitement
of the feeling that if you want to do anything in life, you
go right ahead and do it. She has become much more mature
in her outlook on life... To any parent out there wondering
whether this would be the right thing for your child to do
in life then, YES, is the answer. They may never have the
opportunity again to travel in a safe group and into places
that some people would never go unless they did this trip.
What a wonderful gift to any child- the experience of a lifetime,
go for it!' Ms.
Johnson, CSHS Parent, March 2007.
